Barbara Heck

BARBARA RUCKLE (Heck). Bastian Ruckle is the father of Margaret Embury and Bastian Ruckle was born in Ballingrane in 1734. She got married Paul Heck 1760 in Ireland. The couple had seven children who survived to the age of 4.

Typically, the person who is being profiled has either been an important participant in a significant incident or presented a distinctive statement or proposal which has been recorded. Barbara Heck however left no notes or letters, and the evidence for such matters as the day of her wedding is merely secondary. It's impossible to determine the motives of Barbara Heck's behavior throughout her entire life from primary sources. Yet, she's considered a hero by the past of Methodism. In this case, the job of the biographer is to provide an account of and explanation for the legend and explain, if it is possible, the actual person hidden within it.

Abel Stevens, a Methodist historian in 1866, wrote about this. Barbara Heck's name is now indisputablely first in the listing of women who made a significant contribution to the life of the church throughout New World history. This has been caused by the expansion of Methodism within and around the United States. The reason for this is that the history of Barbara Heck is predominantly based upon her contribution to the great cause, with which her legacy will forever be linked. Barbara Heck's role at the start of Methodism was a fortunate coincidence. Her fame is due to her involvement in a successful organization or movement will celebrate their roots in order to keep ties with the past and to feel rooted in it.
