Katey Sagal
A highly talented multifaceted performer
who excels at both comedy and drama, actress/singer Katey Sagal became a
household name in the 1980s when she played the stunningly bold, undomesticated
Peg Bundy in the long-running Fox show Married... with Children (1987). During
the show's lengthy run, she received nominations for three Golden Globes as
well as two American Comedy Award. Peg Bundy might have been recognizable, but
Katey was determined to continue her acting career even after the show ended.
Katey starred in other sitcoms and also in TV films. In 2008, she played the
role of Gemma Teller Morrow (the matriarch of a Hell's Angels-like California
biker group) on Sons of Anarchy (2008). The character she played earned her an
award in the form of a Golden Globe Award in 2011 for the Best performance by
an actress in a Television Series--Drama. Catherine Louise Sagal is the
daughter of Sara Zwilling (director and singer) and Boris Sagal (film and
television director). Los Angeles native, Catherine Louise Sagal began singing
when she was just five years old. She later trained in voice and acting at the
California Institute of the Arts in Valencia. While working as waitress, she
started performing with "The Group With No Name" and then got a break
by joining Gene Simmons' 1970s rock group KISS. She gained invaluable
experience performing as a back-up singer for Simmons, Etta Jones, Tanya
Tucker, and Olivia Newton-John. She also performed live with Bette Midler, one
of Bette's "Harlettes," in Bette’s avant-garde stage productions.
